ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SMEs) IN CROSS RIVER STATE, NIGERIA
Abstract
This study examined organizational design and performance of Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs) in Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve the purpose of the study. Four research objectives were used to guide the study. The study adopted descriptive research design. This research study was carried out in Cross River State. The population of the study was two thousand five hundred registered SMES. The sample size of the study was three hundred and forty five (345) SMES using Taro Yamane formula. Data for this study were gathered from primary sources. Multiple regression statistical tool was used in the study. Based on the empirical results, the study revealed that organizational identity, work environment, organizational autonomy, feedback have positive significant effect on profitability of SMEs in Cross River State. The study recommended that operators of SMEs should provide adequate organizational identity, work environment, organizational autonomy, and feedback to encourage employers to communicate effectively with workers for increased performance.
