Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Effectiveness in Deposit Money Banks in Cross River State

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to examine emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness. The specific objectives were to: examine the impact of self-awareness on leadership effectiveness, determine the impact of self-management on leadership effectiveness, and ascertain the impact of social awareness on leadership effectiveness. A survey design was employed in the study. The population of the study was one hundred (100) respondents. Census sampling was used in the study. Data were collected through primary sources, and multiple regression analysis was employed in the study. Based on the results, it was found that self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management had a positive and significant impact on leadership effectiveness. The study recommended that HR use EI tests in the selection of candidates for leadership roles.
